In this session, participants will see one option for teaching notational audiation through the lens of Music Learning Theory. Rather than using the register books, participants will be guided through “Learning Sequence Activity-type Classroom Activities.” Tonally, we will follow the familiar pattern approach as first presented in Jump Right In: The Instrumental Series. Rhythmically, we will follow a rhythm cell model as presented in Andy’s book, The Literate Musician. Each participant will leave with a notational audiation starter pack, including mp3s, PDFs and slideshows to use in their classroom.
