MA-GIML Upcoming Chapter Share

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning (MA-GIML) is excited to present a chapter share, entitled "I Don't Think So, Honey: Music Teacher Hot Takes" on ZOOM!
We encourage (but do not require) you to bring a 60 second music teacher "Hot Take" for us to discuss as a chapter! Example ideas could be:
"I Don't Think So, Honey..."
"… music being ‘extra’ when it’s the reason kids come to school.”
“…practice only being about perfection instead of progress.”
“…thinking joy and discipline can’t coexist.”
Southeastern and NY GIML Chapter Event

Southeastern GIML and NY GIML present: Little Improvisers with Jen Doiron on March 15th, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm ET.
CA-GIML Upcoming Chapter Share

Chapter Community Share on Wednesday evening, March 25th, 2026. 7pm - 8pm PST.
This is an opportunity for music teachers to share "THAT GAME" (or activity) that your students really LOVE! You know the music game they always ask for. If anyone would like to share, the goal would be to have 5 minutes to walk us through the activity and try to play it best we can on zoom.
Ohio GIML Presents: ABC's of MLT

Whether you're new to Music Learning Theory or just want a refresher, this session is for you! We'll talk about Gordon's theory and the Skill Learning Sequence, as well as applications for the classroom.
GIML Faculty Members Present to Russian-Speaking Teachers

On February 22, GIML faculty members Natasha Sigmund, (early childhood strand), and Hannah Mayo (piano strand) collaborated to present an introductory workshop on Music Learning Theory, early childhood music, and MLT applications to piano lessons for students ages 3-6, to a group of Russian speaking piano teachers, living in a variety of locales. The group showed great interest and curiosity in the topics discussed, and were excited about how Music Learning Theory might improve their own teaching. Natasha and Hannah were delighted to have this opportunity to spread the good news of Music Learning Theory to more parts of the globe, planting a seed in a group of teachers eager to learn more. These GIML faculty members are grateful to Ksenia Ragot for hosting the workshop and her excellent translations. They hope to collaborate again soon.
