About GIML

The Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML) is dedicated to advancing the research in music education pioneered by Edwin E. Gordon. The purpose of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning is to advance music understanding through audiation. We believe in the music potential of each individual, and we support an interactive learning community with opportunities for musical and professional development.

GIML Ethics Statement:

The Gordon Institute for Music Learning strongly encourages members to act in a positive and professional manner when discussing our organization and Music Learning Theory in general.  Members are encouraged to recognize and remain open to varied approaches and to celebrate both our differences and our similarities.

Edwin E. Gordon Research Fund:

We are now accepting research grant applications. The Edwin E. Gordon Research Fund supports research that furthers the study of music learning theory and the research base upon which it was created. Grants of up to $2000 will be awarded annually for outstanding projects. Applications for funding will be accepted between April 30 and June 15, 2019.
